Music Technology and CMST Assignment Brief - Multi-Media Tech Brief is in your booklets

Creative Technologies

Practical
Produce a simple presentation based on the theme 'Leeds People and places', created in the form of a CD-ROM, incorporating various interactions.
The presentation should include visual material you have developed in the Creative Technologies module. You should utilise skills developed in other modules to provide audio content for example, found or recorded 'actuality' sound, voice over material, or music compositions.
Use 'Director' software to compile and structure the visual and audio material included in the presentation.

The presentation must have the following structure and meet the content specifications outlined below for the different elements of the CD: -

A front page which introduces the piece of work. It must include student name and ID number, and your course and module title. In addition it must include your project title and your student photo.

As outlined above, these sounds may be: -
'actuality' sound (perhaps a sound 'collage')
found pre-recorded sound
original music compositions (e.g. midi generated and recorded as a .wav file)
voice over / narration

or a combination of the above as appropriate.

NB Please do not attempt to record your own compositions for this project using the School' Recording Studio facilities. You may borrow portable recorders, which should be sufficient for accomplishing the tasks set out in this assignment.

Overall, the multimedia CD ROM presentation must also include the following: -
A 10 second long animation (e.g. created using Poser or 3D software)
20 Photoshop images.
A series of appropriate audio clips.

You may choose to incorporate the animation and additional images in any way you feel appropriate to support the theme of 'Leeds People and Places'.

Note that you are expected to hand in data files containing the all the raw material you have generated for this project.

Written
The work should be accompanied by a 500 word critical evaluation of your work on the project. You should identify: -
What techniques and skills you have learned from the project?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of the project?
How well you have performed throughout the project?
Any changes that could be made if you were to re-start the module?

Hand In:

1. A Multimedia Project CD-ROM as specified above, which is an interactive presentation created with Director software. Ensure that it is possible to access and play back this CD ROM on University machines. Your work will not be marked if it is not accessible.
2. A data CD containing the raw material used in your presentation. You should group the files in clearly labeled folders. Ensure that you include:
A single Photoshop file containing 20 original images that you have digitally edited and which incorporate the given theme.
The 20 images saved as separate JPEG files as used in the final presentation.
Your 10 second long 3D animation created in Poser software.

3. Your word critical evaluation.
